Your Role
  • Conduct highly innovative research across the domains of computer science, social sciences and bioethics on an interdisciplinary research project entitled “Privacy and security of next-generation genome services”.
  • Contribute to the design of privacy preserving techniques for genomics applications
  • Homomorphic encryption and Secure Multiparty computation methods for genomics privacy
  • Privacy preserving machine learning techniques in genomics applications
  • Publish research results and present them at international conferences
  • Contribute to reports and research publications
  • Engage in dissemination of results to stakeholders
  • Write a cumulative PhD thesis
The project stems from a partnership between the University of Luxembourg and , a Luxembourg-based company whose business is to facilitate long-term storage of genome data and repurpose it to enable genome-informed personalized treatment and disease prevention.

Your Profile
  • Strong mathematical and algorithmic CS background with a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other related discipline
  • Good software development skills in C/C++ and/or scripting languages like Python
  • Proficiency in English
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research, privacy preserving techniques
  • Good academic writing and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work indepently and as a team member
  • Inquisitive and critical mind, collaborative attitude
  • Background in cryptology and Bioinformatics, in particular sequence analysis is a strong plus
  • Background in ML libraries such as Tersorflow or scikit-learn is a plus
