Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens in order to better understand, explain and advance society and environment we live in.Your roleWe are looking for an experienced and motivated Project Officer to support the execution of the NEXTLOGIC project – Next-generation urban freight logistics for net zero emissions through innovative solutions.Coordinated by Prof. Francesco Viti from the Engineering department, NEXTLOGIC is funded under the HORIZON-MISS-2024-CIT-01 call: Changing urban spaces and mindsets to accelerate the transition to climate neutrality. This ambitious, EU-coordinated project brings together researchers, municipalities, and industry partners across Europe to rethink and reshape urban freight transport systems through innovative engineering and policy solutions.As the lead partner, the University of Luxembourg is responsible for managing the overall project coordination. This is a unique opportunity for a skilled project manager with experience in EU-funded research—especially within technical or engineering contexts—to take ownership of the post-award management phase and ensure smooth and effective project execution.The tasks and responsibilities will cover:
  • Serve as the central coordination point for the NEXTLOGIC project administration, working closely with internal teams, partner institutions, and the European Commission
  • Organise and facilitate the project’s administrative kick-off and ensure clear communication between all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Oversee contractual and financial administration related to the project
  • Support and coordinate the production and timely submission of all required reports and deliverables
  • Monitor project expenses and ensure compliance with EU funding guidelines, supporting both internal and external partners
  • Drive communication with key stakeholders, ensuring milestones are met and expectations aligned
  • Collaborate with the Research Facilitator team and the FSTM’s financial controllers to provide consistent, strategic project support

  • A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a scientific or engineering discipline relevant to the University’s research profile
  • Experience managing large, EU-coordinated research projects, preferably within engineering, smart mobility, or urban systems
  • Deep understanding of research environments in academia, particularly within a university setting
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle multiple stakeholders and deadlines
  • High-level communication skills in English (both spoken and written); fluency in French is considered an asset
  • Ability to produce clear, structured reports and deliverables aligned with EU research and innovation frameworks
  • A service-oriented mindset, with flexibility, proactivity, and a strong team spirit
  • A passion for enabling scientific impact through robust project management
